The Bereavement Index of 2024 outlines the continued struggles that we may be faced when dealing with the administration of estates.
It was revealed that many found that the process affected their mental health, particularly when finding the process drawn out and seeking help from third parties.
I do not feel that many understand the pressure that is put on Executors when a loved one passes away and many issues need to be attended to – whilst also trying to grieve.
Unfortunately, there is not enough information available to loved ones and Executors. When taking instructions from someone with respect to their Will, I think it is very important to also explain the probate process.
Whilst it may be upsetting, it is important to understand the process itself and who would be best to be appointed as an Executor.
It is also important for the person appointed as an Executor to understand the process.
Many minutiaes need to be picked up and dealt with, otherwise the Executor will become liable.
